A Smarter Approach to Roof Maintenance
A Proven Technology
Bio-oil technology has been used for decades to extend the life of asphalt surfaces like roadways. These oils maintain flexibility and prevent brittleness, which leads to cracking.
This same technology has been adapted specifically for asphalt shingles—providing a reliable, cost-effective way to maintain and extend roof performance in Saskatoon’s climate.
How It Works
As asphalt shingles age, they lose the oils that keep them flexible and durable. This leads to cracking, granule loss, and reduced protection.
Our treatment penetrates deep into each shingle, restoring those oils and bringing the roof back to life. Each application can extend your roof’s lifespan by up to five years.
What the Treatment Does
- Restores flexibility so shingles perform like new
- Reduces granule loss and helps prevent cracking
- Improves resistance to wind and hail
- Enhances waterproofing performance
- Restores color and overall appearance
- Kills algae and moss and helps prevent regrowth
- Keeps roofing materials out of landfills
- Reactivates adhesive properties within shingles
Lab-Tested Performance
Independent testing comparing treated vs. untreated shingles has shown:.
- Up to 53% improvement in granule adhesion
- Flexibility improved from “fail” to “pass”
- Improved resistance to hail impact
- Up to 40% improvement in fire resistance
Environmental Impact
Millions of tons of asphalt shingles are sent to landfills each year. Roof rejuvenation helps reduce this waste by extending the life of existing roofs.
Every roof treated means fewer materials in landfills and less environmental impact from manufacturing new shingles.
Common Questions
When should I treat asphalt shingles?
Most roofs begin showing signs of drying out between 6–10 years, depending on sun exposure and weather conditions in Saskatoon.
What are the signs my roof is drying out?
- Granules collecting in gutters
- Shingles becoming brittle or cracking
- Fading or uneven color
- Slight curling at edges
- Dark streaks or staining (cosmetic, but indicates aging)
Is the application safe?
What does the 5-year limited warranty cover?
The manufacturer-backed warranty ensures treated shingles maintain proper flexibility, granule adhesion, and performance for at least five years.
It does not cover damage from extreme weather, structural issues, or improper installation. If performance issues occur under normal conditions, affected areas may be retreated on a prorated basis.
What are the weather requirements?
- Temperature must be above +5°C
- The treatment absorbs within about 1 hour
- Light rain after absorption is not an issue
Does the treatment change the appearance of my roof?
What will my insurance company say?
What roof types are suitable?
Best for asphalt shingle roofs that are aging but still structurally sound (typically 8–15 years old).
Not suitable for:
- Flat or membrane roofs
- Metal roofing
- Cedar shake
- Tile roofs
Can it be applied in winter?
How long does the process take?
What safety precautions are taken?
Will my roof look different afterward?
How many years does it add to my roof?
Is there a warranty?
What if moss or algae are present?
How do I know when it’s time?
Look for:
- Granules in gutters
- Brittle or cracking shingles
- Fading or curling
If your roof is 8–15 years old, it’s typically a good time to treat before more serious damage occurs.
What happens if it rains after treatment?
Rain within 30–45 minutes may reduce effectiveness. After that, the treatment has absorbed enough that light rain is fine. Heavy rain should be avoided for up to 72 hours.
